A bit late on this post. On March 14-15 we were able to make it to Poulsbo, WA for the first race of 2009. We stayed in Seattle with some good family friends and took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island each day.
Saturday was the typical March day; rain, wind, and cold. We had a group of Marines from the local base lift cars, so it saved some wear & tear on parents backs.
http://www.soapboxderbykids.com/It was a fun day racing, I was able to see some old friends and make some new ones. At the end of the day, it boiled down to myself and Tucker. She was able to take the prize, with me following a close second. I looked forward to a rematch on Sunday.
Sunday morning was cold and cloudy in Seattle, by the time we made it to Poulsbo a few flakes of snow started to fall. As time went on, the flakes grew in size placing 1" of snow on the ground between 7 & 8. The snow showed no sign of letting up and the race was called about 9. We traveled down highway 3 and the snow reached 6" in areas. Cars were in ditches and along the road. It was an eventful trip.
That afternoon we arrived at
Great Wolf for some fun swimming. The slides and wave machine were awesome. The room was nice, I had a bunk bed & own TV. We spent the rest of the day Sunday and most of Monday enjoying the waterpark & quests.
