AASBD Race

Wow what a busy past few days. The race was fun and exciting, I was eleminated the first round.. along with 2/3rds of the other drivers. It has more to do with tires & lanes then driving ability. The first few rounds gets rid of the kids with bad wheels. The West Coast did excellent this year. Kiristen Fauser of Keizer won 2nd place, Camerion Reinhart of Brooks took 4th, and Tucker McClaren of Portland took 8th. Race web site
Here is a video of the race.. should have photos posted in the next day or two.

Long Road to Akron

A day of travel, dashing through airport terminals, sitting in broken planes... the road to Akron had a few bumps, yet we made it in one piece (at 3AM). My car passed inspections with flying colors and was given marked VIP. The day was pretty fast paced, running between downtown and Derby Downs. It was awesome to see the track for the first time.. only was able to grab a few pictures. Saw some familar faces from the West Coast, made the day go a little easier.

More to come on our trip tomorrow.

Sorry about the delay... a lot has happened. We are getting ready to go to Akron OH this weekend. My car and our bags are already there. While at Akron the local club will be working at the Salem Art Fair over the weekend. I am racer #415, they have my check-in time for 6:15 am on the 25th.. so I will be most likely racing early. There will be live coverage over the web, I will post the link later.

Best of the West

The Memorial Day rally was fun and looong. We have a full field of drivers and tough competition. On Saturday it ended up as the battle between me an Tucker. She did not give up the #1 spot easily. This win locked me into a rally champ slot bound for Akron. At the end of the day we had a great BBQ. My dad raced in the Oil Cans, he did not place... but it looked like he had fun.

Sunday was also challinging, I started to have steering problems early on. Not sure if was it's the axles or cables, but it kept drifting to the left. I was able to pull off being second, Tucker took the title. I also recieve the "Best of the West" award for overall points earned.

In a few weeks we will be having the Local race. I hope become local champion so I can continue the Stock Rally circuit next year.

I'm not keeping up on this very well. The NDR on March 29th & 30th rally went well, I took 1st place each day in stock. The April 18th and 19th AA races in Salem, I came in a narrow second both days to Tucker, giving her the 4 wins she needs. I still need 2 wins to get my points up, so I hope I do well at the Best in the West.

We went up to Poulsbo on the 25th, it was a fun race & was able to see some friends. I took 4th, being knocked down by Paige and Hanna. But we have a rematch coming up in a few weeks.

I hope to add some new pictures to my slideshow in the next few days, I am experiencing some computer problems with my desktop & the laptop is not set-up for pictures.

Rain & Snow in Poulsbo

A bit late on this post. On March 14-15 we were able to make it to Poulsbo, WA for the first race of 2009. We stayed in Seattle with some good family friends and took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island each day.

Saturday was the typical March day; rain, wind, and cold. We had a group of Marines from the local base lift cars, so it saved some wear & tear on parents backs. http://www.soapboxderbykids.com/

It was a fun day racing, I was able to see some old friends and make some new ones. At the end of the day, it boiled down to myself and Tucker. She was able to take the prize, with me following a close second. I looked forward to a rematch on Sunday.

Sunday morning was cold and cloudy in Seattle, by the time we made it to Poulsbo a few flakes of snow started to fall. As time went on, the flakes grew in size placing 1" of snow on the ground between 7 & 8. The snow showed no sign of letting up and the race was called about 9. We traveled down highway 3 and the snow reached 6" in areas. Cars were in ditches and along the road. It was an eventful trip.

That afternoon we arrived at Great Wolf for some fun swimming. The slides and wave machine were awesome. The room was nice, I had a bunk bed & own TV. We spent the rest of the day Sunday and most of Monday enjoying the waterpark & quests.

2009 Season Begins

We are in the middle of the 08/09 season. We don't race in Oregon in the winter months so I am looking forward to getting back on the track. The 1st official AA race will be in Washington, where I hope to do well. Even if I don't win, it will be good seeing my friends again.

To warm things up in the Salem area, we are off to Mt Hood Meadows for some snowtubing this weekend. I hope to have some pictures and stories to tell when I return.
